Philippine Air Force (PAF) sent one of its C-295 aircraft to
Brunei Darussalam as one of the air assets showcased at the Capability Static Display during the 62nd
Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF / ABDB) Anniversary Celebration hosted by the
Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF / TUDB) at
Royal Brunei Air Force Base, Rimba from 28 May to 01 June 2023.
The PAF delegation was headed by Colonel Joseph P Archog PAF (MNSA), the Deputy Wing Commander of the 220th Airlift Wing, who was joined by the flight crew from 221st Airlift Squadron and representatives from the Headquarters of the PAF. Aside from the Philippines, Air Forces from Australia (RAAF), Indonesia (TNI-AU), Malaysia (RMAF), Singapore (RSAF), the United Kingdom (RAF), and the United States of America (USAF) also sent their respective air assets to Brunei Darussalam for the Capability Static Display.
As one of the highlights of the event, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam His Majesty Sultan haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'Izzaddin Waddaulah inspected the displayed air assets by various air forces present. Accordingly, Col Archog had the opportunity to give the Sultan a quick tour of the PAF C-295 aircraft, and explained how it is being utilised by the PAF in various missions. During the official visit, all Heads of Air Force Delegations also rendered a courtesy call on Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, the Commander of RBAirF.
The Bruneian air chief expressed his appreciation to all participating air forces for being part of the 62nd RBAF Anniversary Capability Static Display, and mentioned that he looks forward to further strengthening the cooperation with each air force through bilateral and multilateral platforms.
Moreover, the PAF delegation also had an office call on Lieutenant Colonel (U) Haji Mohammad Albadii Shahnoel bin Haji Mohamad Noeh, the Chief of Staff of RBAirF. Col Archog and LtCol (U) Albadii highlighted the importance of the cooperation between the PAF and RBAirF, and emphasised that both air forces are looking forward to sharing best practices on common interests.
The PAF delegation was accompanied by Colonel Angelo Gerard P Artles PN(M) (GSC), the Philippine Defense and Armed Forces Attaché to Brunei Darussalam. While in Brunei Darussalam, the PAF delegation also paid a courtesy call on the Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, visited the Canadian Aviation Electronics Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre, and attended the Appreciation Dinner hosted by Colonel (U) Hishamuddin bin Abidin, Acting Deputy Commander of RBAirF.
